28 March 2018 - COMAIR DEPARTURE TIMES & CHECK IN CLOSURE

All British Airways operated by Comair flights close for check in 45 minutes prior to flight departure.

The Harare to Johannesburg flight departure time is at 1135am.

Check in counters close at 1050am. 

Passengers will not be accepted for check-in if they arrive after check-in has closed.

26 March 2018 - CARD IS KING ON KULULA

Kulula is now completely cashless onboard! 

All kulula fans who would like to silence their hunger and thirst cravings will now be able to pay for snacks by swiping either their credit or debit card.

22 March 2018 - UAE VISA PROCESSING

To avoid visa processing delays due to the upcoming Easter holidays please take note of the following:

>> Visa applications for travel from 30 Mar to 7 Apr should be submitted to by close of business on 23 Mar 2018.

>> DSO & EKH hotel bookings for travel from 30 Mar to 7 Apr should be finalised and paid for by 23 Mar 2018.

The required documents should be sent in JPEG format (full colour) with all the required fields of the visa application form completed.

Passport validity should be more than 6 months from date of entry.

16 March 2018 - VIRGIN ATLANTIC SECOND DAILY SERVICE LONDON - JOBURG

Virgin Atlantic will be introducing a second daily service between London Heathrow and Joburg OR Tambo Airport.  The new flights will go ON SALE on 24 March 2018 and will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 which offers the latest cabin interiors, inflight entertainment and WiFi on every flight.

The first flight on the new service will DEPART on 28 October 2018.

26 February 2018 - SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS TICKETING

Following an exchange control directive issued by RBZ this week, please note that effective immediately, ALL South African Airways tickets that do not originate in Zimbabwe can only be issued as follows: 

1.  International Credit Card

2.  Foreign Currency

This advisory supercedes previous communications which exempted SOTO tickets within the SADC region.

21 December 2017 - OR TAMBO AIRPORT TRAVEL ADVISORY

Due to extended travel document checks by Border Control Authorities and high numbers of departing passengers over the festive season, customers are advised to expect possible delays at immigration control points at OR Tambo International Airport.  Travellers are advised to arrive at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure time of their flight. Passengers may be denied boarding if they arrive at the boarding gate late.

7 September 2017 - KENYA BAN ON PLASTIC BAGS

Kenya has enforced a ban on the use of plastic bags from 28 August 2017.  This ban infers to the use, manufacture and importation of the banned plastics within Kenya and especially affects plastic carrier bags.

All guests traveling into Kenya with duty free plastic bags shall be required to leave the bags at the entry points and seek alternative carrier bags.

We request that you do not carry plastic bags while visiting or working in Kenya as there are penalties for those caught with them.

If you have a plastic bag containing duty free items, we advise that you exchange the bags with a woven one provided on board and give the attendants your plastic bag for disposal.

12 July 2017 - EMIRATES LIFT OF ELECTRONICS BAN FOR USA

Effective immediately, the electronics ban has been lifted for Emirates flights from Dubai International Airport the U.S.A.  All passengers can now carry laptops, tablets and other electronic devices onto the aircraft, subject to enhanced security measures.

22 June 2017 - FASTJET INCREASES FLIGHTS TO JOHANNESBURG

Due to popular demand, Fastjet will increase flight frequency to up to 3 daily flights between Harare and Johannesburg starting from 1 July 2017.  

Fares start from $100 one way, including taxes.  Subject to seat availability.

20 June 2017 - UAE IMMIGRATION CLOSURE

The UAE immigration office will be closed due to a public holiday in Dubai.  To avoid processing delays passengers travelling between 1 and 3 July 2017 should submit their visa applications by Friday 23 June 2017.

5 April 2017 - RWANDAIR BEGINS FLIGHTS TO HARARE

From 5 April 2017, Rwanda's National carrier, RwandAir begins flights between Kigali and Harare.  Initially the carrier will fly four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Popular destinations from Harare include Johannesburg and Dubai.

RwandAir operates one of the youngest fleets in Africa and flies to over 20 destinations across the continent.

22 March 2017 - UNITED STATES ELECTRONIC DEVICES BAN

With immediate effect nine airlines have stopped passengers from bringing most electronic devices into the cabin for U.S-bound flights from major airports in the Middle East and North Africa.

Passengers will have to check-in any electronic devices bigger than a smartphone including laptops, cameras, gaming devices and tablets. Medical devices required during the flight will still be allowed in the cabin after security screening.

Airlines affected are Egypt Air, Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Turkish Airlines.

U.S. airlines are not affected because none of them fly from the airports in question. Passengers will still be allowed to take electronic devices onto flights departing from the U.S.

21 March 2017 - UNITED KINGDOM ELECTRONIC DEVICES BAN

With immediate effect, passengers boarding flights to the UK from the Middle East and North Africa will not be allowed to take any phones, laptops or tablets larger than a normal smartphone – specified as 16cm x 9.3cm x 1.5cm.

The ban affects direct flights from six countries: Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. 

UK airlines that come under the ban are British Airways, EasyJet, Jet2, Monarch, Thomas Cook and Thomson. 

Foreign carriers affected are Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airways, Atlas-Global Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Egypt Air, Royal Jordanian, Tunis Air and Saudia.

14 March 2017 - BRITISH AIRWAYS CASHLESS SERVICE

From 1 April 2017, British Airways will be unable to accept cash payments at many of the airports it operates from, such as London Heathrow, London Gatwick and in North America.  This includes all types of payments, such as for extra bags, additional/exit row seats, changes to tickets, service charges, etc.

Customers who cannot pay with a credit or debit card are advised to check with a member of the British Airways staff at the airport to find out if options are available for converting cash to a payment card as this varies by airport:

•  At Heathrow, customers can buy a Multi-Currency Cash Passport from Travelex that they can use to pay. 

•  At many North American airports, customers can either buy a Multi-Currency Cash Passport from Travelex, or use Cash-to-Credit card kiosks to convert cash into a prepaid debit card for a $5 charge per transaction.  Any charges associated with the use of a cash conversion machine are collected by the company who owns and operates the machine.

Important note:

Customers who use a prepaid debit card should not throw it away until their travel is complete, even if the card is empty.  If there is a need to refund any costs, the amount will be returned to the original form of payment.

22 February 2017 - TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ABUJA AIRPORT

This is to advise that Abuja Airport is temporarily closing from 8 March 2017 to 18 April 2017.  Ethiopian Airlines will move its operations from Abuja to Kaduna during this period.  All ticketed passengers to/ from ABV with travel dates between 7 March 2017 & 18 April 2017 can be rerouted to LOS/ENU/KAD/KAN at no ADC.

Refunds may be processed during this time at no penalty.
